The Out of Hand Impact Lab Is Back for 2026!
Out of Hand is hosting a six-month lab, starting in December 2026, that teaches step-by-step how to develop and implement their award-winning civic theater model. Receive insights on audience growth, raising capital, and increasing empathy and action on the most pressing issues in the community.
The Lab is led by a team of artists, producers, and community leaders who live at the intersection of creativity and change. Not to mention, this is the team that helped quadruple Out of Hand’s revenue while strengthening its community impact. Together, they have fostered community partnerships that have moved audiences to action, deepened connections between neighbors and strangers, and generated sustainable growth for arts organizations.
The Out of Hand Impact Lab is intended for leaders of theater companies, actors, nonprofit organizations, and activists who want to create theater events not just for their communities, but with their communities.
After six months, participants leave with a new understanding of:
Approaching collaboration between artists and community partners
Conducting listening sessions to embrace diversity and understand equity
Producing a theater event that can be replicated by multiple hosts
By connecting with peers across the arts industry and diverse communities, participants develop a sustained practice of collaboration and gain a network of fellow creative leaders walking the same road.
*After completing The Lab, participants become eligible to license Out of Hand’s programs including Out of Hand Dinners and Shows in Homes.
