Residencies
The Out of Hand technique for ensemble created theatre works. Through rigorous training, research and practice we have developed a teachable method for collaborative theatre making. Our most successful collaboration happen in Universities, Colleges and High Schools across the country.
A team of Out of Hand Company members combines with a team of students artists. Together, we devise a new work using Out of Hand’s techniques. In the process, the students learn the method and receive training in Viewpoints, Suzuki, Clown, Writing and a myriad of other techniques. At the end of the residency, there is a presentation of the new piece in process.
Residencies can be tailored to available funds and range from long term, full fledged productions to long weekend sessions.

Science and Art Workshops
Through residencies at the Center for Chemical Evolution and the Center for Science and Society at Emory University, Out of Hand has created a series of workshops for Scientists, science students and science teachers to learn more creative and effective ways to communicate their research. Using Out of Hand’s techniques for creating original performances, we explore the places where science and art converge.
Show Development
Out of Hand has been making new theatrical works for 10 years and teaching our methods for nearly as long. The process of collaborative theatre making can be simultaneously one of the most rewarding and one of the most frustrating experiences for students and artists. Our techniques and experience can guide you towards the rewarding side and make an unmatchable learning experience for theatre students at your University, College or High School.
