The Playwriting Center of Theater Emory
For nearly thirty years, Theater Emory has dedicated itself to the development of new work for the stage, based upon the belief that this work can enrich not only the scripts themselves but also those of us who choose to engage with them. The Playwriting Center strives to create an environment where established and emerging writers choose to bring their growing plays for creative nurturance and support. The Playwriting Center of Theater Emory commissioned Out of Hand Theater’s Hominid, and is supporting the development of Without Which Nothing.
Theater Emory
At Theater Emory, a professional theater company in residence at the University, undergraduates collaborate on significant and challenging artistic projects and plays with professional artists: directors, actors, designers, playwrights, dramaturgs, technicians, and stage managers, including the Department’s core faculty. Professionals, in turn, receive a rare and inspiring experience with a research-based theater that poses questions, challenges assumptions, and examines universal perceptions within theatrical productions of classics as well as new works. Theater Emory has collaborated with Out of Hand Theater on a number of productions, including Hominid, Alcestis and 30 Below.
